Layer: Road Centerlines (ID: 3)

Name: Road Centerlines

Display Field: NAME

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolyline

Description: This layer has the roads for Los Alamos County, plus a few highways leading out of the County which are included for 911 response purposes (but are not maintained by the County). The geometry is all digitized from aerial photos. In Los Alamos and White Rock, the source is the 2014 Pictometry orthoimagery, while in the more remote areas, the source is either the 2014 NAIP data or the 2011 post-Las Conchas fire orthoimagery. Road segments are entire between intersections, but are split at all intersections. The location of the road centerlines should be accurate to within 1-3 feet depending on the source data.LANL roads are included, though in most cases these are off limits to unauthorized invididuals. At a minimum, most LANL roads will require a LANL badge for all vehicle occupants. Many of the more remote LANL roads are gated and require additional clearance, keys, etc. No guarantee is made about the accuracy of these data for navigating LANL roads, as changes can and do occur based on LANL's needs.Forest roads are included, but in some cases sections will have been washed out by floods, so not all forest roads may be accessible. Additionall, all forest roads are rough, and require four wheel drive vehicles with high clearance. No guarantee is made about the accuracy of these data for navigating forest roads, as changes can and do occur based on weather.Bandelier National Monument roads are included, but some are for staff only, while others may limit vehicular traffic during peak periods (summer) when buses run from White Rock. No guarantee is made about the accessibility of any Bandelier road, as changes can and do occur based on the park's needs. There are a number of attirbutes included in this layer such as road function, substrate, ownership, speed limit, # of lanes, and 911-relevant addressing fields. The address ranges were manually checked against known address points in 2016 for consistency.
