Description: This feature class provides addresses for every building, house, apartment, or condo unit in Los Alamos County. The points are the center of the building or unit for which they represent. The addresses were checked visually in August and September 2015, and have been reconciled against the county surveyor's records.
Description: These elevation products (bare earth DEM, hillshade, slope model, aspect model, and 2' contours) are all created from lidar collected over all of Los Alamos County and a significant portion of adjacent counties, roughly corresponding to the areas impacted by the Cerro Grande Fire. Total area of the lidar exceeds 400 sq. mi. The lidar data were processed to create a bare-earth digital elevation model with a 4-foot pixel size, using the New Mexico Central State Plane projection, NAD83 (FIPS 3002).From the DEM, all the other products were created using ArcGIS tools in version 10.1 as follows:Aspect was created using the aspect surface tool in ArcToolbox 10.1 in the Spatial Analyst toolbox using all default settings.Slope was created using the slope surface tool in ArcToolbox 10.1 in the Spatial Analyst toolbox using PERCENT_RISE as the measure of slope, all other settings were defaults.Hillshade was created using the hillshade surface tool in ArcToolbox 10.1 in the Spatial Analyst toolbox using a Z FACTOR OF 2, all other settings were defaults.2' Contours were created using the NRCS Countour Tools v10 from USDA (ftp://ftp.ftw.nrcs.usda.gov/NRCS_Contour_Tool/) using the "Create Index Contours From Original DEM" tool. The AOI was the entire AOI of the DEM using shapefile mask created for that purpose. The interval was 2' and the DEM elevation units were specified as feet.

Description: This is the definitive county boundary, based on published plats, survey data, and GPS'd boundary markers. As opposed to other Los Alamos County boundary layers, such as in Google Maps, Esri map services, Bing, or those published by TIGER or the New Mexico GIS clearinghouse, this county boundary layer is updated frequently, as Los Alamos County GIS continues to find the boundary markers that define its borders on the ground. The goal is to have all the border points and angle points GPS'd and accurate to within 12 inches. Where markers are missing, these points are derived from published plats and surveys.
Description: This layer shows the footprints of buildings, based on the 2014 Pictometry data, and in some cases on LANL (where Pictometry isn't available), based on the 2011 12-inch imagery from the Las Conchas fire. The layer includes permanent structures as determined by the GIS Administrator, Temporary buildings are not included, though sheds in many cases are (where they appear to be long-term).
Description: These data represent the parcel boundaries for Los Alamos County, and include attributes from which many other properties can be derived - zoning, land use, ownership, communities, subdivisions, voting districts, etc. The data were originally developed from filed plats, and in 2015 were completely reviewed and cleaned up.
Description: This feature class shows areas that are characterized as mountains, mesas, or canyons in Los Alamos, based on slope calculations from 2001 lidar data. This feature class is intended just for cartographic purposes, and is not derived from actual geologic data.
